We provide community, workplace and intensive literacy, language and numeracy education/learning programmes for adults aged 16 years and over who are not enrolled in mainstream education.  If required, we will also develop programmes to specifically meet the intergenerational learning  needs of whanau or other groups.

What we do.

Our current main centre is situated at 22 Gladstone Street, Dargaville (initiallly we were based at 92a Victoria Street, Dargaville – above Hunting and Fishing). We opened another smaller centre in Maungaturoto (163 Hurndall Street, above Four Square) about 5 years ago. We also deliver programmes at other sites outside of these areas in collaboration with others to meet community needs.

We provide education/learning programmes at no direct cost to learners who are New Zealand citizens and/or New Zealand residents. However, we do try our best to also provide education/learning programmes to others wherever possible again at no direct cost.

All staff are trained and qualified tutors in teaching adults, and hold at least one literacy and numeracy teaching qualifications to. Our staff also bring a range of work and life experiences which they utilise to enhance the learning experience for those enrolled with us. All staff throughout the organisation participate in performance appraisals and ongoing professional development.

Over the past 18 years we have delivered an array of literacy and numeracy based programmes, which have helped students step back into the workforce, start new careers. and increase their confidence to participate more fully within their whanau and communities. We have seen steady annual growth in the numbers of people learning with us and have built strong relationships within our communities. Another important outcome for some of our students, has been reconnecting with their families through learning together.
